Festival do Marisco – Seafood Festival – in Olhão the premier seafood lovers’ gathering in the Algarve. Held in Olhão for over 30 years, this festival is a true celebration of the ocean’s culinary bounty and Portuguese festive culture.
About the Festival
The Festival do Marisco in Olhão is one of the most significant culinary events in the Algarve, drawing tens of thousands of visitors annually. Known for its high-quality seafood and live performances, the festival is a feast for both the palate and the spirit. It offers a unique opportunity to explore and enjoy a wide array of fresh seafood, caught from the waters of Ria Formosa, including shrimp, oysters, clams, and much more. Local specialties like seafood rice (arroz de marisco) and cataplana (seafood cooked in a special pan) promise delightful gastronomic experiences.

This year, the festival will run from August 10 to 14, 2024, with events scheduled each evening from 7:30 PM to 1:30 AM. Main concerts begin at 11:00 PM featuring a lineup of renowned artists :

Ticketing
Admission prices are affordable, with adult entry at €10 and a reduced rate for children aged 7 to 12 at €5. Entry is free for children up to 7 years old. Passes are also available for all evenings, with an adult pass at €45 and a child pass for those aged 7 to 12 at €22.50, providing full access to the festivities. Practical Tips
For the best experience, it is advisable to buy your tickets in advance to avoid long waiting times. Given the organizational challenges of the 2023 edition, improvements are expected for 2024. The festival takes place at Jardim Pescador Olhanense, conveniently located between the market and the new Marina, close to the waterfront of Ria Formosa in Olhão.
